Visiting and staying in La Baule
A famous seaside destination in the Loire-Atlantique region of France, not far from Brittany, La Baule-Escoublac is an ideal family vacation destination. The beaches of La Baule
La Baule boasts a large beach running the length of the town, stretching for almost 8km to the Pornichet marina.
This beach is renowned for its fine sand, and is even referred to by locals as “the most beautiful beach in Europe”.
It’s ideal for a relaxing day out with the family, but also for those wishing to learn the joys of water sports, in particular sailing, paddling and catamaran sailing.
The first section of the beach, at Le Pouliguen, is called Plage du Nau and is separated from the main section by the mouth of the Grand Étier du Pouliguen.
This small beach offers a very tranquil setting for those who like to relax first and foremost.

Among the places to visit in La Baule, the Parc des Dryades is a must. Covering an area of 25,000 m², it features over 300 trees and a 1400-seat amphitheatre.
In Pornichet, you can discover the Villa Ker Souveraine, a remarkable example of 1920s seaside style, which was listed as a historic monument in 2022.

A must-do family outing is to visit the Brière Regional Nature Park by barge (a traditional local boat). This is France’s second-largest marshland, home to a rich ecosystem with 900 different plants and numerous aquatic birds. Covering over 50,000 hectares, the Grande Brière is one of the country’s largest wetlands. The Brière offers a sense of escape, calm and contemplation, with an infinite horizon and a landscape punctuated by bell towers and the Saint-Nazaire bridge.
Other family outings include a visit to the Océarium du Croisic , where you can discover the marine fauna.
